Cleaning Challenge - 09-01-2017 - - 1 comments
January Cleaning Checklist Challenge

January has arrived with the cold and wet weather but this is also a great opportunity to get important tasks and jobs done that you may otherwise put off. So while it is rainy and cold outside take our January cleaning checklist challenge and see what you can get done.

  1. Party time is over

The biggest Christmas and new year hangover can sometimes be getting the decorations and Christmas items sorted and packed away. Have you put off sorting out the Christmas stuff?

  • Throw away any damaged or broken decorations.
  • Sort into groups - fragile, tinsel etc.
  • Buy new in the sales and pack away for next year.
  • Save Christmas cards to make home made gift tags next year. Or take to a recycling facility.
  • Pack away into a box and label it so it is easy to spot next time you need it.

2. No time like the present

Now you have received some lovely new presents from your friends and family you will need to find a home for them. Now is a great time to sort through and organise these areas.

  • Something to wear - Get your wardrobe organised and throw out old PJs and sort through your underwear drawer.
  • Something to read - If you need space for your new reading pile, find books that you can donate to charity.
  • Something to play with - Sort through toys and throw out broke ones, find which need new batteries and donate any unwanted toys. You then can see if you need any storage for the new toys.
  • Something to eat - If like me all edible gifts are long gone then you can check this of your list straight away! If not then double check use/best by dates and put in the store cupboard.

3. What's in store for 2017?

Now is the best time to go through your store cupboards in the kitchen

  • Throw out any out of date items.
  • Clean up any spills.
  • Make a list of what you need to replenish.
  • Organise and create a good space to cook from.
  • Sort through kitchenware and donate unused items and through out broken ones.

Great practical advice will try and work through this list. I have to say hiring a cleaner has certainly given me more time to organise rather than clean.
